Stress and geometry in fluid membranes

Jemal Guven

Abstract: On mesoscopic scales the physics of a fluid membrane is described remarkably well by a purely geometrical free energy. The focus of my talk will be on the relationship between the membrane geometry and the stresses which underlie it. The interactions between membrane bound particles induced by the geometry will be described within this framework.
