Dynamic causal modeling

Dynamic causal modelling (DCM) is a procedure that models interactions among cortical regions, allows one to make inferences about system parameters and investigate how these parameters are influenced by experimental factors. With DCM it is possible to access how a given experimental manipulation activates a cortical pathway rather than a cortical area. This approach uses a biological informed model that allows for inferences about the underlying mechanisms of brain function. Moreover, one can compare different mechanisms or plausible hypotheses that map onto DCMs, and disambiguate between competing theories.
