Parameter Reconstructions in Photo-Acoustics

Photo-acoustic tomography (PAT) consists of two steps. In a first step, the spatial variations of the deposited (absorbed) radiation in the photo-acoustic experiment is reconstructed by solving a (well-posed) inverse wave problem. We assume that this relatively well-studied first step is performed with reasonable resolution. In a second step, the optical parameters of the domain of interest need to be reconstructed from knowledge of the deposited radiation. We present recent results for the latter inverse problem (also well-posed in an appropriate sense) in different regimes of PAT corresponding to low frequency (TAT) or high frequency (OAT) radiation.
